Dark Chocolate May Improve Metabolic Stress Response

If you are like me (and I know I am) chocolate of any kind is a major weakness. I just love the stuff. White chocolate, chocolate filled with that red goo and a cherry inside too!
Just the mere thought of it makes my heart skip a beat. It’s true love for sure. I just feel it.
However, now, the fine folks at Nestlé have provided me the excuse I have been waiting years to hear. Chocolate may actually improve your metabolic stress response. Specifically dark chocolate.
I just read an article on the medical news today website which states: “A new study by Nestlé researchers suggests that eating a few pieces of dark chocolate every day may improve the metabolic response of people who report feeling highly stressed.
The study, which was published in the Journal of Proteome Research, was the work of lead investigator Sunil Kochhar, a researcher at the Nestlé Research Center in Lausanne, Switzerland. (That’s chocolate heaven!)
Anxiety and stress can cause various changes in physical and emotional states in humans, and in the longer term can also lead to serious health consequences.”

I’ve never been so happy to read research! The article also went on to state:
“The results showed that:
- Subjects with higher anxiety trait had a distinct metabolic profile.
- This profile was indicative of a different energy homeostasis (characterized by lactate, citrate, succinate, trans-aconitate, urea, and proline), hormone metabolism (adrenaline, DOPA, 3-methoxy-tyrosine), and gut microbe activity (methylamines, p-cresol sulfate, hippurate).
- Dark chocolate reduced the amount of stress hormone cortisol and catecholamines in the urine.
- Dark chocolate also partially normalized stress-related differences in energy metabolism (glycine, citrate, trans-aconitate, proline, β-alanine) and gut microbial activities (hippurate and p-cresol sulfate).
The researchers concluded that:
“The study provides strong evidence that a daily consumption of 40 g of dark chocolate during a period of 2 weeks is sufficient to modify the metabolism of free living and healthy human subjects, as per variation of both host and gut microbial metabolism.”
I think it’s time for me to find some dark chocolate. I won’t feel guilty eating it now either, there’s research to back me up!

I am new to this site. I found loads of useful information here. Please accept my little contribution towards the community. I would like to share some If you need to know how to lose 10 lb in a week, you are probably not seeing for a general diet and workout plan. You can lose weight with a common diet and exercise plan, Still this involves a lot of time doing intense cardio practises and adhering a strict diet.
