Is it your bedtime?

Recently I met two fascinating brothers from Orange County who are truly making a difference in the lives of so many people. They are “The Baietto Brothers”. I was so impressed and inspired with their work I have asked them to be a guest blogger. They will also be guests on my radio show on January 17th.
Jeffrey Baietto, M.A., (Long hair on the right) co-creator of The InnerGIZER Program, is a life coach, author, speaker and consummate world traveler based in southern California. Jeff has his masters in Spiritual Psychology and assists his clients in making powerful and positive changes in all areas of life including: career, relationship, finances, health and overall spiritual growth.
Jason Baietto, D.C. co-creator of The InnerGIZER Program, is a passionate wellness chiropractor and founder of Complete Balance Wellness Center in southern California. He is a committed educator who has been a guest lecturer for Wells Fargo, Contour Aerospace, the Embassy Suite Hotels, and more! Dr. Baietto teaches people how to be healthy by choice, not by chance. He and his staff help thousands of people every year reach their health goals by teaching them how to balance their bodies and their lives
It is with great pleasure that I introduce to you Jeff and Jason Baietto as they discuss one of my favorite times of the day… bedtime.
Dr. Jason Baietto & Jeffrey Baietto –
Remember that question as a child? Mom or dad asking you, is it bedtime yet? And the universal answer from every child no matter what time of night it is of course… a resounding “NO.” But thankfully our parents had the last word and we did in fact have to go to bed and get our sleep. But then we grew up and without the constant prodding of our parents most of us have forgotten what a good idea it is to have a bedtime.
I was recently introduced to the television show 24, in which Keifer Sutherland plays, Jack Bower, a renegade federal agent who plays by his own rules, who goes up against every trial imaginable in one 24 hour period. The whole season takes place in one day, with every episode representing one hour of passing time. And at the beginning of every show, Jack, sets the stage by recapping all of the horrendous things that are happening: his family has been kidnapped, there is a plot to kill one of the presidential nominees, and a few of the people he work with may be involved with one or both… and then he says… “This is going to be the longest day of my life.”
From the very first scene all the way through the season, the adrenaline is racing at full throttle, Jack is literally always out of breath, always minutes away from a huge catastrophe, and each harrowing escape only leads to an even more dramatic and more devastating set of circumstances.
Now this show has been incredibly popular and I think I understand why. Most people can truly relate to this lifestyle and can easily see themselves in the role of our hero Jack. And while we may not be working undercover for the government or trying to spoil an international espionage plot against the next commander and chief, most of us are putting out our own fires all day, every day. So overwhelmed with the deadlines and demands of our crazy, hectic lives, trying to balance work, family, and the rest of modern day responsibilities most of us can honestly say at the beginning of almost every day, “This is going to be the longest day of my life.”
And so not being able to add more hours to the day, something has to give, and that something is all too often…. sleep.
The situation has gotten so bad that many consider a good night sleep a pure luxury instead of the biological necessity that it is. And so with each passing day we become more and more deprived of the rest that we need to operate at our highest level. What difference does a good night sleep make you ask?
Did you know that sleep…
•Helps repair the entire body at a cellular level
•Helps maintain a healthy heart both lowering cholesterol levels and inflammatory markers that are linked to heart attacks, heart disease, and strokes.
•Reduces stress on every system of your body, most of which are totally overtaxed by the enormous strains of our current lifestyles.
•Improves the memory by organizing and correlating memories. This improves focus, recall and overall retention. Basically, sleeping makes us smarter, which is where the phrase, “why don’t you sleep on it” came from and is still used when faced with a big decision…
•Sleep can even help control your body weight: studies show that when you are deprived of sleep normal hormone levels become unbalanced and your appetite increases, especially for fats and carbohydrates. How’s that for diet advice… you need to get more sleep. Now that’s my kind of diet.
Time is the great equalizer. No matter who you are, from President of the United States, to the laziest among us, everyone gets the same 24 hours every day. You can wasted them or use them for good and it passes no judgment. No matter what happened yesterday, today, everyone’s clock is reset (no pun intended) to a fresh 24. So, since we can’t ever get MORE time, it is only a question of improving the QUALITY of the time we do have. And one of the best ways to do that is to get a good night’s sleep, EVERY night.
So give yourself a bedtime. Make it a priority. Our bodies love consistency. By simply going to bed at the same time every night the body gets on a rhythm and will work much more optimally. This simple habit has a powerfully restorative effect on the body and mind and greatly improves the quality of your sleep. Try it for one week and see for yourself what a difference it makes.

Nighty Night,
The Baietto Brothers

Hey Baietto Brothers! Fabulous suggestion- I was told to “Go to bed on time!” several years ago by my Chiropractor, who suggested “BY 9:30pm” to catch some cycle of natural cellular repair that begins at 10pm. She told me “You know how you get tired around 9 and then get a second wind and end up staying up past midnight or 1? The body will either use the energy of that cycle to repair, or keep you awake a few more hours- you get to chose!” Well, I decided to try it for a week, and quickly adopted “Bedtime” as part on my habitual routine for healthy Self-care. Can I even tell you the difference it has made!?! I immediately had more energy each day for Everything in my life, which made it not at all hard to let go of those three “extra” hours I thought I’d be missing. I became more focus and more relaxed, able to get things done way more efficiently than I ever had been able to do as a “Night Owl”. After a few months of feeling Radiantly Healthy, I began to notice that I was starting to grow younger-looking. The line between my eyebrows disappeared first, then the wrinkles around my eyes, etc. Then, my gray hairs disappeared entirely and I was completely dark-haired again! I look better at 44yrs than I did at 30! This “anti-aging” treatment was completely free, all-natural and easy to apply- I just get into bed every night at 9pm, read until my eyes get sleepy (usually 1/2hr-45mins.), and turn out the light! How easy is that!?! Seriously, great work you guys are doing getting this out there! Much Love and Blessings,
Cynthia Lamb ~ Spiritual Counselor
Hi you wonderful men – I have been going to sleep early for years and since I dog walk almost everyday, I need my energy. I hardly ever stay up past 10 PM and at the age of 67 feel and look great. I fall asleep in minutes and get up refreshed and ready to start my day. My cat is also very happy to see me awake at 6 AM to feed and play with her. This is important information to get out to a stressed nation. Thanks for sharing this great stuff – you guys rock!! Michele Martin -pet sitter
After years of being stressed and not being able to sleep at night and seeing the effects on my body and life-gaining weight, tired face and inability to focus-I did what it took to get a good nights sleep-which was mainly take baths to relax my body and get in bed early so that I had enough time to fall asleep and get a good nights rest-I am happy to say I get a good 7-8 hours a nite (and can go to 9 hours on the weekends!) and it has done wonders for my energy levels and the challenges I am dealing with today. What a great article and reminder to give myself a good nights sleep

Next Sunday they will be on my radio show right here, so don’t forget to mark your calendars and check back. If you miss the live show, you can listen to the podcast right on the home page. Or, download it from Itunes.
