Facing death almost always forces an individual to assess what is really important in life. My story is no different. Hello, my name is Nicole B. Simpson and I am a World Trade Center survivor. My life was totally fulfilled and I was achieving the American dream on September 10, 2001. But the next day changed everything for my family and me. I represent the typical family – a wife and mother of two children. We were a two income family living in a nice community attempting to increase our quality of life. Then disaster hit us all. Scared and uncertain of what the future was going to hold, I faced many obstacles after the tragic events.

Although our company had relocated to another location (Madison Square Garden), I could not fathom returning to New York. On the first day, there was a bomb scare at that location and although I was not there, I could not endure the pressure of another attack. I had already lost everything. Afterwards, as a certified financial planner, my attempt to rebuild a business in the uncertain economy left me financially vulnerable. Although I had accumulated savings, without a consistent income, my family endured serious financial hardship after one year. I had to face the pressure of moving on, no income and guilt because of my survival. To make matters worse, physically, I began to deal with uneven breathing, lack of sleep and constant nightmares. I went to a counselor but I couldn’t shake the feeling of guilt and anger. My life was fine-why me, why me? I even thought about the fact that my family wouldn’t suffer financially had I not survived. Here I was planning for everyone else’s future but after one year, our family was in turmoil.

Why am I sharing this with you? We cannot chose when our family will face unanticipated hardship. It becomes our responsibility to prepare for the inevitable in life. However, this is often unaddressed, and most families suffer so significantly that it can take decades to recover. One catastrophic illness, a loss of income, unexpected death, etc. are all examples of what can make a relatively stable family topple under the midst of the pressure. America has faced its most challenging decade financially in a baby-boomers lifetime. High unemployment, low income, significant natural disasters, death and illness. The responsibility we all bear is to ensure that we consider the inevitable if we really love our families. Creating a life plan ensures that you can at least consider what you would do should an emergency arise.

As for my family, we are survivors! My husband and children understood my pain, my erratic outbursts, and they adjusted to my new sleep schedule. The road to recovery for me included sharing my story with people and educating individuals about the importance of disaster planning. They rallied behind me because they knew that a strong family bond could cure all hurt and pain. Their love and support gave me the strength to move forward. While we have survived as a family, I am mindful nine years later that true love will always make an individual consider the inevitable. What quality of life will your family endure if you didn’t come home one day? My family is so important to me that I made it a priority to rebuild our asset base, re-evaluate our insurance policies, confirm our disability plans, and increase our quality of life. You can do the same for the ones you love.

The summertime almost always presents an opportunity for people to invest. It is a quiet period because most individuals are focused on spending money and having fun. Businesses tend to slow down and they offer significant incentives to attract new clientele. Most companies are focused on maintaining relevance, marketing and promotions. It’s a great opportunity for networking and seeking out new relationships. Investment of time and money can produce great rewards if strategically planned.

As a singer, songwriter or other creative artist, the summertime is the best time to work on your visibility and ability to earn significant money promoting your ministry and/or product. While everyone else is vacationing, you should be working diligently making connections, attending events and yes, even selling your product out of the trunk of your car. Going into non-traditional places for exposure will give you a chance to book your calendar for the remainder of the year.

StopStressingNow.com - Connecting To Happiness!

Let’s explore this using the example of an author. You’ve recently released a new book and you are committed to selling 150 copies each for the month of August. Now in the literary world, that is a lofty goal for a new author. How does one accomplish this task? Perhaps you would consider booking a hair salon/barber shop tour. Establishing relationships with other business owners will give you a chance to market to their clientele. A simple flyer with multiple dates and appearances will prove to be quite successful if your presentation is correct. The salons are full and women are looking for things to read while waiting.

If you are a singer, be willing to sing for a significant discount or even free at outdoor concerts and events. If the crowd is large enough, several things will happen. One, you can sell CDs right on site immediately after you perform and/or minister. Secondly, a new audience will become exposed to your ministry so you can network in hopes of getting book at events in the future. The final benefit is that you can promote, promote, promote!

There is a saying that while the cat is away, the mouse will play. Everyone desires to relax and enjoy life during the summer season. I would encourage you to maintain disciple and move on purpose to achieve the goals you set for yourself. You will find that several of the closed doors in the beginning of the year have been opened because other businesses are more readily available. The only way you will find out if the door is open is to test it again. Contact people you desire to establish relationships with again, even if you were rejected previously.

You will be pleasantly surprised.

The primary key is to keep pursuing your goals! Work while everyone else is on vacation and you will find yourself ahead of the competition when the fall arrives. Therefore, when others are getting back to work, you’ve already moved up the ladder of your personal success.

Do you have what it takes to look certain death in the face and fight back? Our newest guest blogger here at StopStressingNow.Com did just that. In what is quite possibly the most famous terrorist attack in history, this inspiring lady dug deep within and found the sheer will to survive.

Her story has touched me personally, so I asked her to share with us some of what she has learned since the day the world stood still. She was there inside tower two on the 44th floor when the second plane hit just above her at the World Trade Center on September 11th 2001.

StopStressingNow.com

This challenging economic season has created an opportunity for everyone to think outside of the box and create a plan of action utilizes your natural talents and abilities. Consideration to establish your own business is both personally fulfilling and a satisfactory financial vehicle as well.

It is imperative to identify your talent, write a vision and make it plain. Then, you must share your vision with others. This is what I want to discuss today. You've determined your true calling, you've envisioned yourself walking into your destiny and now how do you make that happen? Sharing your vision based on your talent with others will allow those individuals to assist you creatively with options of how to get started. After all, that is what deters people most often. They don't know where to begin.

I recall sharing the challenges I faced when I first became an author. I wasn't certain if I accomplished my goals and objectives. Fear of rejection made me keep the thoughts of my perceived failure to myself. To share that intimate information and allow myself to be open to criticism was new for me. After all, a reason why we don't succeed is because we talk ourselves out of our destiny being afraid of what others might think. Or perhaps we didn't get the results we were seeking the first time we tried. Maybe, you shared your ideas with the wrong people and they told you that you were chasing a dream, it wasn't possible, you can't achieve... I could go on. But I couldn't shake the feeling that I had more to accomplish. So I went back to the drawing board. I had already identified the gift and I wrote the vision. It never changed. This time around I shared the vision with other people.

You’ve determined your true calling, you’ve envisioned yourself walking into your destiny and now how do you make that happen? Sharing your vision based on your talent with others will allow those individuals to assist you creatively with options of how to get started. After all, that is what deters people most often.

They don’t know where to begin.
I recall sharing the challenges I faced when I first became an author. I wasn’t certain if I accomplished my goals and objectives. Fear of rejection made me keep the thoughts of my perceived failure to myself. To share that intimate information and allow myself to be open to criticism was new for me. After all, a reason why we don’t succeed is because we talk ourselves out of our destiny being afraid of what others might think. Or perhaps we didn’t get the results we were seeking the first time we tried. Maybe, you shared your ideas with the wrong people and they told you that you were chasing a dream, it wasn’t possible, you can’t achieve… I could go on. But I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had more to accomplish. So I went back to the drawing board. I had already identified the gift and I wrote the vision. It never changed. This time around I shared the vision with other people.

You see, I was independently successful the first time around based on my own skills.

But when I shared my vision with other people, they began to add creative ideas and suggestions I never considered.
What am I saying to you? Moderate success isn’t enough. When we follow our dreams without help, without guidance, without support, we can suffer from burn out and we may limit our potential. But often, we place ourselves in that position. This time around I decided to share the gift God had given to me with others. The more I began to share, the more opportunities began to present themselves to me. People started to help me by sharing their resources and committing to support my vision. All I had to do was open my mouth and make myself vulnerable to criticism. But the feedback is progressive, not regressive. Certainly you must be prepared for the non-believers and the people who will not be supportive. But the next step in your journey will almost always be revealed by another person.
Trust your instinct! You are a business and every business must have a team to become successful.

I want to share one final example about how important this link is to your success overall. Several years ago I met a young lady who had recently started a new magazine. She had the desire to become a publisher since she was a little girl but it a life altering encounter that finally persuaded her move forward in pursuit of her dreams. When we met, she was at a transition in her life. She had taken the business as far as she could go individually and realized she needed assistance to move forward. If you spoke with her, she will share with you that she exhausted many options and needed a fresh perspective. She shared her vision with women with different levels of expertise.

Three months later, she had a team of people working with her as if the vision was birth by them independently.

If you trust your instincts, you will find yourself always traveling in the right direction.

Share the vision!

If money were not an issue, what would be your life purpose?

Today is an opportunity to ponder this question in such an uncertain economic climate. Company layoffs are still occurring, physical ailments are increasing due to stress and anxiety, and many people are beyond financial devastation. Yet the message of hope and opportunity presents itself in the midst of the storm is being heard everywhere you turn. You hear the message but you are wondering if it applies to you. You’re doing all that you know to do and yet you still find yourself in the desert place.

How does one recover from a catastrophic event and begin the journey to recovery? Even with the best laid out plans, life happens. People die, people lose jobs, people separate, people start over, and people fall ill. At the root of many of these issues, lies the “elephant in the room.” How will I handle this financially? Life challenges are easier to handle when one is working and depending upon a check every week or two. But what happens when you are the one who received the latest pink slip immediately after a diagnosis of high blood pressure, diabetes or even cancer? What if you just decided to leave your spouse? Perhaps you are the one entwined in the midst of the subprime mess and when the interest rate adjusted on your mortgage, you could no longer handle your monthly obligations?

The pressures of life are overwhelming and the belief that everything will work out feels so distant. But opportunity is present. The question then becomes how do you identify the opportunity, maximize on the moment, and find financial security? Taking a holistic approach to picking up the pieces of your life and regaining control will take time. If you begin working an average of 12-16 hours daily over any extended period of time, your health will suffer causing additional complications you did not prepare for. However, if that is your only option, it becomes easier to endure when you are seeking to achieve a goal that will ensure you will never repeat the cycle of financial lack.

StopStressingNow.com - Connecting To Happiness!

Shifting your mindset is possible when you are in connection with your true heart’s desires. Your passion will direct your footsteps, divinely connect you with people who can assist you, and encourage you when you need it the most. When you align yourself with your passion or plan for your life, financial security becomes a reality. It seems difficult because you don’t know where to begin. Listed are a few steps that will help you to move forward.

Begin to lay a secure foundation physically, mentally and financially. Make a conscious decision to begin navigating through life proactively, not reactively. Very often people allow life issues and current circumstances to dictate behavior and distract them from their dreams. While in this mindset, concern about your physical well-being is virtually nonexistent. By taking control of your life, you can control your destiny.

Create a life plan. You’ve heard of a business plan and a financial plan. But do you have a life plan? Begin to assess where you are standing in life. What do you love to do? Do you have a desire to serve in a particular area or field? Have you identified your natural talents and/or abilities and the career that compliments those talents? While you may find it necessary to seek employment to provide for your family, exploring all options that will allow you to line up with your purpose will begin the process of living a pre-ordained lifestyle. This will not always be easy but it is productive.

Evaluate relationships and be willing to shift. If you find yourself at the top of the ladder of success in your immediate circle, you need to make some serious adjustments. Seek out multiple mentors that are willing to not only share their time and connections with you, but they should be capable of holding you accountable as you work toward achieving your life plan. In addition, they should stand with you and be available to you during your weakest moments. At the same time, you need to be available to individuals who can learn from you.

Be responsible and accountable. This is where most individuals are stagnant. If you would reflect honestly, you will recognize signs when you ignored your inner voice warning you the decision you were making was wrong. There are some areas where that voice was screaming at you but because you could not see past the gas bill, the mortgage, or the job itself, you did not heed the call. Spending recklessly and even enlisting your children’s help to avoid bill collectors. When you are ready to face reality, you will then identify mandatory expenses from the things that are optional. You will reach out to various lenders and negotiate payment arrangements. Most importantly, you will become accountable. Even if you cannot make financial commitment, you will no longer avoid phone calls. Operating with integrity with your finances will reflect serious commitment to wanting things to be different in your life overall.

When you live your life on purpose, you will find prosperity in every area of your life. You will recognize there is an overflow of blessings in which you can freely share with others. You will find that you are not consumed with physical limitations affiliated with anxiety and stress, and you will be willing to work long hours because the reward and benefits far exceed a check every week or two.

Simpson

Days turn to weeks and weeks turn into years when you find yourself merely existing from moment to moment, day to day. So when the turn of a new calendar year approached and the turn of the new decade became a reality, you were given permission to dream new dreams, pursue your goals and press toward your destiny. However, time is relative regardless of whether you are 20 years old or on the brink of retirement. The way you behave, the willingness you may have to let your guard down may differ if you thought the possibility of life being different was tangible. Perhaps you will change your attitude if you knew this year would be the best year of your life. 2010 is well underway so let’s talk about having life be different for you.

Even at your age, you can have a productive life. You matter. If you didn’t have a purpose to fulfill, you would be dead. Knowing that someone else can benefit from your experience can motivate you to change your perspective. Honestly, it was probably your complacency that landed you in the position you now find yourself in. Will the results of your life differ if you began to think about others? Can you begin to make progress by encouraging, advising and counseling those in need?

Note: There is a poll embedded within this post, please visit the site to participate in this post's poll.

What are you willing to do to make a permanent, positive impact on someone else’s life? As you exist in 2010 desiring a different outcome for your life, you must understand that you are the author of your fate and the controller of your destiny. Perhaps it would serve you best to focus on being available to someone else and their success if you cannot clearly define your heart’s desires. In addition, when you serve others, favorable things will begin to happen in your life. People observe your compassion, support and desire to be available to you as you pursue your dreams. Can you envision others lining up to support you? Willing to assist you in the pursuit of your dreams?

No longer do you have the luxury of sitting back and merely existing. Understand that people are always watching you. What statement are you attempting to make to the world? What opinion can they reasonably draw from your lifestyle? Are you satisfied with that? If you are, continue along the path you are currently traveling. But if you are not, begin to dream again.

2010 still represents an opportunity to reset the game of life. Many people have suffered during this traumatic, economic downturn. You have a chance and a choice. Your chance is to include your natural talents and abilities in your decisions as you move forward in life. Your choice lies in the fact that you can operate differently or continue the cycle of mediocrity. What will you choose?

I hope you chose your dreams! www.dare2dreamwithme.com

It’s with great pleasure I introduce to you someone you will never forget…

Nicole B. Simpson

Facing death almost always forces an individual to assess what is really important in life. My story is no different. My name is Nicole Simpson and I am a World Trade Center survivor. My life was totally fulfilled and I was achieving the American dream on September 10, 2001. But the next day changed everything. I represent the typical family – a wife and mother of two children. We were a two income household living in a nice community attempting to increase our quality of life. Then disaster hit us all. Scared and uncertain of what the future was going to hold, I faced many obstacles after the tragic events.

It was primary election day in New York City on September 11, 2001. Clear blue skies, people hustling, scrambling off to work on a bright and sunny day. While sitting in my office on the 73rd floor of Two World Trade Center, Tower I was hit by an airplane. After a few moments, I was compelled to leave the building and I began to walk down the steps from the 73rd floor. It was while I was on the 44th floor contemplating going back upstairs to my office because announcements were being made that our building was secure, that Tower II, the building I was in, was hit also. The plane went right through the 73rd floor. The building shook violently, people were hurt all around me hit by debris and moving objects. After a few moments, I began to walk down the steps in an attempt to hightail it out of the building watching people suffer, seeing bodies fall from the sky, experiencing my own personal pain.

What do you do when you have a close encounter with death? How do you recover from catastrophic and traumatic events? How does one begin the pick up the pieces of their life and move forward adjusting to the “new normal”? Unfortunately, heinous crimes are real, premature death hits close to home and people suffer from chronic diseases in our families. But does the crisis have to define your future? Can you regain mental and emotional stability and enjoy life again?

Although our company had relocated to another location (Madison Square Garden), I could not fathom returning to New York. On the first day, there was a bomb scare at that location and although I was not there, I could not endure the pressure of another attack. I had already lost everything. Afterwards, as a financial consultant, my attempt to rebuild a business in the uncertain economy left me financially vulnerable.

But you are still standing and that makes you a survivor. I began to realize that in order for me to regain control of my destiny, I needed to make some adjustments in my life. It helped to ease the pain and guilt I felt and it allowed me to channel my energy into doing something positive. So if you’ve experienced trauma, here are a few adjustments you can make to move forward.

1-Acknowledge the root of your pain. Any attempts to mask your emotions will only prolong the inevitable. If you are angry, it’s okay to be angry. If you feel guilty, write out why you feel this way and begin to deal with the guilt. If you are sad, it’s okay to feel sad for awhile. All of these emotions are natural responses to crisis.

2-Seek out the support of a counselor. Sometimes it helps to speak to others about what you’re experiencing. You can select a traditional counselor, a close friend you trust or a spiritual advisor. They grant you the freedom to express yourself without being judged.

3-Adjust to the “new normal”. If you have been diagnosed with a chronic illness, there are some serious changes you will confront. If you lost a spouse or a parent, you will have to learn how to move forward without them. However, it does not mean your life is over.

4-Consider volunteering in a charitable or community organization that focuses on what has pained you the most. Having gone through the experience, you will find that being around other people with similar experiences serve as the best medicine.

5-Remember you are a survivor and you are here on earth for a purpose.

My husband and children understood my pain, my erratic outbursts, and they adjusted to my new sleep schedule. The road to recovery for me included sharing my story with people and educating individuals about the importance of disaster planning. My family rallied behind me because they knew that a strong family bond could cure all hurt and pain. Their love and support gave me the strength to move forward. While we have survived as a family, I am mindful years later that true love will always make an individual consider the inevitable.

What quality of life will your family endure if you weren’t available physically or emotionally?

My family is so important to me that I made it a priority to move forward and increase our quality of life. You can do the same for the ones you love.
