“They were fascinated with why people would call me and not a doctor or a therapist.” – Diamond says. “I think there is a growing mistrust in the world among the medical community and people are afraid to talk to someone who may document something that could in someway be used against them somehow in the future. My call system through AT&T is 100% anonymous and that has been the success of this program. People feel better by getting what burdens them off their chest and at the same time being in control of exactly who they are telling it to. They enjoy speaking with someone that is like them. Someone that really does care and has no way of contacting anyone they know. I have had so many people tell me how liberating this truly is. I think that’s why they call.”
Diamond says: “I have just been blown away by the response to this new service. So many people need someone they can trust to talk with, share ideas and communicate their deepest innermost thoughts. It’s really been a shock to me at how many people call with the exact same problems and concerns in their relationships. It proves just how more alike we are than we are different I truly believe.”
Diamond’s new relationship advice service is available 24/7 and has received hundreds of calls since the program first began in May of this year.
Today’s blog post contains Part 1 of a very dramatic interview with Steven Diamond, magician, entertainer, speaker, and author who graciously shared his life story with us.
Richard Zwolinski (RZ): Hi, Steven. Can you start by telling us a bit about your background?
Steven Diamond (SD): I was born on October 1, 1968 into a very dysfunctional American family in Portsmouth Virginia, though I didn’t know it at the time. It wouldn’t be until decades later that the true depth of the scars left on my life would be revealed.
All of the males on my mother’s side of the family were abusive, raging alcoholics, and I hardly knew my father’s side. My mother was consumed by mental illness and sought refuge in her Southern Baptist religion, where she would learn to hide.
She’s the only person in history to run the White House Visitors Office for all 8 years of an administration.

Melinda Bates never expected to spend nearly a decade rubbing elbows with political leaders, royalty and celebrities, but that’s exactly what she did for Bill and Hillary Clinton as the head of the White House Visitor’s Office – a job that made her everybody’s “best friend” in Washington.
