There is something to be said for “doing what you love” in life. No one knows this better than I. As many of you know, I spent the better part of the first 30 years of my life traveling the world performing as a professional magician with my now famous Co-Star “Aflack” the world’s only mind-reading, canvas painting duck. Yes, you read that right. Not only can “Ben” (as I lovingly call him) read your mind, but he can also draw and even paint an amazingly artistic picture on a real canvas. I give his artwork away during the show. If you are lucky enough to get one of his rare paintings at our live shows, he’ll even autograph it to you personally after the show.

I’m not joking.

I haven’t toured since 2005. I have been so busy with all of my other projects. None the less, the calls would still come in from Corporations, Cruise Lines and promoters from around the globe wanting Aflac and I to do “just one more show”. The truth is, I missed it more and more the longer I stayed away. There is nothing more satisfying to me then making an audience howl with laughter. It’s what I was born to do.

For the past year or so I have been dreaming about returning to the stage with Ben in a limited two year run. One more world tour. ( I sound like Cher) So I sat down and had a long conversation with Ben about returning to the stage to see what his thoughts were. After all, he’s been happily in retirement for nearly six years now. He said that he needed to think about it a while. So I gave him some time. Ben is a family man now with a wife and kids. So it’s not as easy for him to just pick up and leave anymore.

After a week or so in deep thought, Ben came back to me and said that he would agree to return to the stage on one condition. The condition was…. that we produced a completely new show, even more funny then what we use to perform years ago. I guess after 15,000 live performances in more then 40 countries around the world he was tired of doing the same act.

So, I am very proud to announce that our new show entitled “Everybody Laughs!” – magic with a meaningful message – is now taking dates for December of 2011 through December of 2013 only!

Kathleen Koch is a Washington-based freelance journalist, author and speaker. Her best-selling book, Rising from Katrina, which traces her Mississippi hometown’s recovery from Hurricane Katrina and her experiences covering it, was released August 1, 2010.

Koch provided moving reports from the Mississippi Gulf Coast during and in the years following Hurricane Katrina. Her two documentaries on the recovery of her hometown – Saving My Town – The Fight for Bay Saint Louis and The Town That Fought Back – received a New York Festivals Gold Medal. Koch also shared in the 2006 Peabody Award CNN received for its coverage of the hurricane.

Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including three silver and one bronze Telly for a report she anchored for Astrocast.TV on the new Spaceport America under construction in the New Mexico desert. In 2007, Koch won a New York Festivals Gold Medal and a bronze award for investigative reporting from the New York Association of Black Journalists for a CNN report in which she revealed the apparent murder of a young inmate by guards at a Mississippi jail.

In 2004, Koch traveled the country covering the Bush presidential campaign, before being deployed south to Florida to report on the deadly series of hurricanes lashing that state. In 2003, she was part of CNN’s around-the-clock coverage from the Pentagon on the build up to and the launch of the Iraq war. A year earlier, Koch was one of the primary correspondents covering the Washington-D.C-area sniper attacks. In 2001, she was part of CNN’s Emmy award-winning coverage of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
