<p>This is a very profound statement and I believe the way you begin to change your state of consciousness is by first becoming aware and secondly by learning the simple art of gratitude. Gratitude is the surest way to bring more abundance into your life. If you want more, you must be grateful for what you have first.</p>
<p>For many years now, the very first word I actually speak each day has been the word &#8220;Gratitude&#8221;. When I awake  in the morning, I verbally speak the word &#8220;Gratitude&#8221;. It&#8217;s always the first word I say of the day.  If the phone rings during the night, before I answer, I will actually say the word &#8220;Gratitude&#8221;. This little ritual of mine helps me to pause, remember to be grateful and has become a very powerful force in my life.</p>
<p>Gratitude is an appreciation for what is. Not for what we want to be. This is key. When you learn to live your life in gratitude that originates from your heart, you will begin to see great things happen in your life. Things you never expected. Things you never thought were possible suddenly are when you be become truly grateful. It makes things possible in our lives. It allows us to feel true happiness from the inside out. Extensive research on the subject has shown that when you practice consistent and true gratitude in your life, you become a happier person. I know this to be true in my own life.</p>
<p>Things aren&#8217;t always perfect. Life doesn&#8217;t always happen the way we want it too. However, gratitude for that which is, can be life transforming. It&#8217;s exactly the type of &#8220;fundamental change in your state of consciousness&#8221; that Mr.Tolle is speaking of.</p>
<p>Living with an attitude of gratitude is so important in our lives. It&#8217;s one of my own personal <a href="http://www.stopstressingnow.com/2009/12/our-core-beliefs/" target="_blank">core beliefs</a>. I hope that you will make it one of yours. We have so much to be thankful for. Even when times are tough. Be grateful for the people in your life. Be grateful for the body you have that allows you to live. Be grateful for the heartbeat you feel in your chest. Be grateful that you have the liberty, freedom and healthy eye sight to read this. Be grateful for all of the struggles that you have survived. Be grateful for the love in your life no matter from where it comes. Be grateful for the ability to give love, just because you can.</p>
<p>There is so much to be grateful for in this world.</p>
<p>I think the best part about being grateful and giving gratitude, is that it&#8217;s free.</p>
