“What is my purpose?”

It’s a question I have asked myself many times over the years.

There are many different ways to ask this question: “Why am I here?”,”What am I suppose to do with my life?” and my favorite, “Can YOU tell ME what my purpose is?”.

The answer to that question is easy. NO. I can not.

However, I think I have learned the process by which we each can discover it’s answer for ourselves. It’s the road map that will show us the way, and it’s called “Passion“. Passion for living, passion for life is there to drive us to our purpose. Look around you and you will find that all truly successful people (however you may personally define success) are filled with a great passion not just for living but for life itself. They become successful because the passion leads them to their purpose in life. What a beautiful thing to discover in ourselves, see in others and watch unfold. It’s truly a miracle of living that often goes unnoticed.

Each one of us has a purpose. A very specific purpose in life. No two of us have the same purpose. Each of us are here for as unique a reason as the person standing next to you. This I can assure you. But it’s that passion for living that will lead you to your purpose in life. It’s so simple, yet it took me such a long time to fully understand this truth. Passion is what guides us to the very reason we are here. It gently nudges you along the way and when we don’t listen and think we know what’s best, it allows us to veer off course and travel down the path of resistance, struggle and even a little pain and hardship just to prove it’s point. Eventually, it gives us another try and opens the door to opportunity and allows us to peek in. The choice to walk through that door is yours alone. Passion is the key that unlocks the door called “Purpose”.

You can do things I can not, that might be called a “talent” or a “skill”. I might be able to do a few things you can’t imagine and we won’t even go there. However,it’s all of these collective talents or skills or abilities that each of us have that bring us a certain joy  and inner peace when we do them that makes us each so very unique. For example, some people find a personal joy in being with and caring for animals, so they become veterinarians. Others may find that inner joy while in the kitchen and they grow up to be Paula Dean. My point is, it’s the great passion for that inner joy that leads them all to the fulfillment of their purpose in life.

Passion is the key.

However, the secret is in learning to find your passion. That is where so many of us veer off course. Once you learn to truly connect with that inner voice that guides you deep inside, a world of unlimited possibilities will present themselves at your very feet. I know that sounds “hard to swallow” at first blush, but it’s pure truth. It’s the way the world is designed to operate. In perfect harmony. When we find ourselves out of sync with that natural flow we meet resistance at every corner. So just learn to listen and reconnect to that tiny, faint inner voice that has been there since before you were born.

It’s there to guide you.

It’s there to show you the way and it contains the answer to every question you will ever ask through out all of your days.
